Apprenticeships with North London Garages GTA

North London Garages GTA is a training provider based in Enfield, North London and we specialise in the training of people wishing to pursue a career in Motor Mechanics, Body and Paint repairs or Vehicle Restoration.

The apprenticeship is made up of technical and practical training at work and off the job in college. The apprentice will usually work 4 days a week in the garage and attend one day off the job technical training at college. Some of our courses have block release training for college such as for our Vehicle Restoration Apprenticeship.

Apprentices are supported by their tutor in college and assigned an assessor who will visit the apprentice at work once every 8 weeks to carry out assessments and review progress of their qualification.

The apprentice is paid the National Minimum Wage or above and has a contract of employment with their employer.
If the apprentice works an additional 4 hours on a Saturday, they must be paid extra, in line with the above wage.

Holiday pay– apprentices are entitled to holiday pay, and paid holiday of 20 days per annum.

Government Incentive Grant– the government currently offer a grant of £1,000 to any employer who takes on an apprentice. The Grant will be offered to those employers who are eligible to receive it and paid in two instalments of £500, the first after 3 month and the second when the apprentice completes 12 months of training.

Working week– A typical working week for an apprentice is Monday to Friday, and on one of these days the apprentice is required to attend college. College is part of the apprentice’s working week and must be paid, in the event of them being late or if they do not attend college the employer is always notified.

Trial Period– We welcome employers to offer an apprentice a trial period prior to taking them on full time, as it gives them a chance to see how they work, ensure they have good time-keeping and it also offers the apprentice a chance to get to know the staff. The trial period cannot be any longer than 5 days.
